Description: Dr. Andrew Jackson Hunter (1816-1894), Pioneer Physician and owner of Hunters Hot Springs, Springdale, Montana Territory. His resort became very popular with tourists going to Yellowstone. He was the father of Mary Hunter Doane, wife of Col. Gustavus Doane, who was one of the first explorers to Yellowstone, in the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition of 1870. 3.5x5 in. black and white photo, 4x5 copy neg.

Description: Black-Hawk (1830-1870), an Apache Chief with the Ute Tribe in Utah, who led the Utes against the Mormon settlers, in a war called the Black Hawk War. The war lasted from 1865-1872. He made peace in 1867 but other bands continued the war. He died in 1870 before the war ended. Vintage 7x3.5 in. stereograph.
